Is it just me, or are weblogs having a considerable impact on web design practises lately? it’s somewhat comparable to the phenomenon of inexperienced users mistaking Google for the internet (as in the old AOL-“enter what you’re looking for and hit return” way). I think people have been seeing lots of blogs lately: corporate blogs, newspaper blogs, private blogs, anything. And they got used to it. Starting a blog has become the standard practise for publishing anything on the web, regardless whether that form of presenting content makes sense or not.
For that reason, a lot of websites built by non-professional webdesigners are designed as weblogs nowadays, even if thats the last thing those sites are. I just noticed this here and a couple of other places.
I guess this has got something to do with the easy to use, stripped-down content management systems some blogging engines offer. There’s definitely need for a cms that’s as easy to use as Wordpress and not focused on blogging. it could do a lot for pragmatic, logical webdesign at a personal level.
